Well, we're out of tourist mode. We've been sailing south down the Italian coast. Long days, mostly motoring, sailing with what little wind there's been. We've managed to average about 50 to 60 nautical miles a day, going about 3 days in a row before we need a rest day. After leaving Marina di Pescaro, we headed to Termoli. After docking, we were so tired that we didn't bother going into the town.

After Termoli it was off to Viesta, which is on the tip of the spur of Italy, the Promotorio del Gargano. We anchored off Viesta, which has a somewhat protected bay to the south of the town harbour. While not visiting Viesta, it was a beautiful town to observe from an anchorage, and it was nice to be on the hook again, isolated from marinas and all that.

After Viesta, it was a 60 nm sail to Bari. By this time, we were completely exhausted, and needed some time to recharge. Also, there was some weather predicted (which never eventuated), so we settled into Bari for 4 days. There was plenty of boat maintenance to catch up with, and we got the bikes out and explored the old and new towns in Bari. Bari is not really a tourist destination, but a large commercial port town. However, the old town was cute enough, and we always do enjoy gritty real towns.
