A weekend away

Strange, isn't it. Now that we're newly retired, we've been working our little butts off doing all the administrative and bureaucratic things we need to attend to. It was all getting a bit much, so we decided we needed a 'weekend away'. (Hope the irony strikes you as much as it did us!!).

Bay of Twelve Islands
We decided we'd sail down to a beautiful site in the Bay of Twelve Islands. It was just a treat to be able to anchor in a little bay. We could swim off the side of the boat in crystal clear water.

Our anchorage

This is the little bay we anchored in. We swam into the rocky beach, and were invited to sit with some of the local inhabitants. They offered us tea (brewed in a little portable charcoal fired samovar), and Megan was fed fish and bread by the women.

Turkish Gulet

We couldn't keep the beauty all to ourselves (unfortunately), and some Turkish day-tripper gulet's joined us. Thankfully, they all depart before sundown, leaving the site tranquil again.

Departing Gulet

Next day, we sailed to Gocek, where we planned to stay in a marina. However, after 3 attempts to back into a small berth, being scared witless by boorish Turkish power boat drivers hitting 10 knots down the   finger pontoons, I gave it away. We anchored off the beach in Gocek and took the tender in. Hence no photo's as I don't yet trust our new camera to the wiles of the 2.3m tender. Monday morning, ready to return to the 'rat race', we sailed back to Fethiye.

What a life!
